Feature: Booking Extension


We've been listening closely to your valuable feedback, and we couldn't be more thrilled to unveil our latest addition - the booking extension feature in our app!

This new feature will allow Guests to extend their existing bookings, eliminating the need to go through the entire booking flow, contact customer support, or experience unnecessary delays at the end of each booking.


What options do Guests have for extending their bookings?

Guests can choose to extend their bookings based on either hours or days, as long as the listing is available and there are no clashes with upcoming bookings.

Check out the table below for the charges and additional mileage details.

For example, if your booking’s base price is RM100, your earnings before Marketplace Commissions and SST deductions would be:

  • 2-hour extension - RM40

  • 6-hour extension - RM75

  • 24-hour extension - RM100

NOTE: The extension charges are based on the dynamic pricing rates (if applicable) instead of the base price. As soon as the booking extension is applied to a booking, the new amount will automatically be calculated and reflected on the app.

How soon after making a booking can the Guest extend it?

The Guest can use the booking extension feature once the booking inspection is complete. Guests will not be able to request for an extension 1 hour before the booking end time.


How will Hosts be notified of booking extension requests?

The process to accept a booking extension request is similar to accepting a normal booking request.

How long does the Host have to accept an extension request?

Scenario 1 - For booking extensions requested more than 2 hours before the booking end time
You should respond within 1 hour before the start time of the extended booking.

Scenario 2 - For extension requests raised less than 2 hours before the booking end time
You should respond within 30 minutes from the time the extension was requested. If the response time exceeds this limit, the system will automatically reject the request.

NOTE: The booking extension option will be disabled for Guests who have one hour left until the booking ends.


How does an extension request affect new booking requests?

When a listing gets an extension request, the time slot will not be open for new bookings until you respond to the request or the system takes action if you don’t respond.

For instance, if Guest A requests for an extension for a car from Thursday 12 PM to Friday 5 PM, Guest B won't be able to book the same car for Friday 5 PM.

The car will be reserved until Friday 10 PM (5 PM extension + 5-hour buffer for the next booking). This ensures that Guests have a fair chance to get the extension they requested.


Are there any booking extension constraints for late evening bookings?

  • If a booking ends after 5 PM, the 6-hour extension option won't be available.

  • If a booking ends after 9 PM, both the 6-hour and 2-hour extension options won't be available.

  • Extended booking end times cannot be between 11:30 PM and 6.00 AM.


Will all listings have the booking extension feature?

By default, all listings will have the booking extension feature enabled. Hosts cannot change this setting within the app.


What if the listing has the next accepted/requested booking within 5 hours from the current booking end time?

The booking will not be able to be extended.


What if the listing has no availability for the next day?

If the listing has no availability for the next day, the 24-hour extension option will not be available.


Can a Guest request the same listing again after an extension request is rejected by the Host?

No, once a Host rejects an extension request, the Guest cannot request the same listing again for an extension.


Is there any penalty if Hosts reject a booking extension request?

No, you will not be penalised if you reject a booking extension request at this time. However, accepting booking extension requests can significantly increase your earnings as a Host. Each approved extension means additional income without the need for a new booking.


What about additional services like TREVO Delivery or Self Collection/Return?

TREVO Delivery: New booking end time will be reflected and delivery request adjusted accordingly.


Can I self-deliver if a booking is extended?

With each booking extension, Hosts will have the flexibility to switch between self-delivery or Dasher service as they prefer. So, it's easy to adapt to changes and make sure everything runs smoothly for the Guest's extended booking.


What if a Guest requests to extend a booking outside of the app?

Please note that insurance coverage will not apply to extensions requested outside of the app. Additionally, TREVO will be unable to assist with any claims or disputes that may arise after the official booking has ended.
